From Fall 2005 through Spring 2009, 1109 (28%) of the 3966 students in the 2005FL FTIC cohort enrolled in the gateway course MATH 1314 with 666 (60%) of them successfully completing the course.

 

 

Gateway Math Completion Race/EthnicityRace/Ethnicity

Graph 1 presents the total enrollments in MATH 1314 as well as completion rates by race/ethnicity. Black students had the lowest completion rate (53%) while Asian students and those in the “Other” category had the highest (68% and 100%, respectively).

 

 

 

Gateway Math Completion Race/Ethnicity by Pell StatusPell Status

Graph 2 presents the total enrollments in MATH 1314 as well as completion rates by Pell status (recipient vs. non-recipient). Pell recipients had a higher completion rate (63%) than non-recipients (59%).

 

 

 

 

Gateway Math Completion by AgeAge

Graph 3 presents the total enrollments in MATH 1314 as well as completion rates by age group. Students in the “<20” category had the lowest completion rate (59%) while those in the “20 - 24” category had the highest (67%).

 

 

 

Gateway Math Completion by GenderGender

Graph 4 presents the total enrollments in MATH 1314 as well as completion rates by gender. Female students had a higher completion rate (64%) than male (54%).
