From Fall 2005 through Spring 2009, 3335 (84%) of the 3966 students in the 2005FL FTIC cohort enrolled in the gateway course ENGL 1301 with 1940 (58%) of them successfully completing the course.
Graph 1 presents the total enrollments in ENGL 1301 as well as completion rates by race/ethnicity. Black students and those in the “Other” category had the lowest completion rates (51% and 50%, respectively) while white students had the highest (62%).
Graph 2 presents the total enrollments in ENGL 1301 as well as completion rates by Pell status (recipient vs. non-recipient). Pell recipients had a lower completion rate (57%) than non-recipients (59%).
Graph 3 presents the total enrollments in ENGL 1301 as well as completion rates by age group. Students in the “<20” category had the lowest completion rate (56%) while those in the “25+” category had the highest (70%).
