The TCCD Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a standing IRB established in 2013 in compliance with federal policy for the protection of human subjects of research. The IRB reviews all District-proposed human subject research, regardless of funding.

District research is conducted in accordance with federal, institutional and ethical guidelines. Approval of proposed research by the IRB does not indicate endorsement of its scientific validity or approval of its ethical content, except with respect to the rights of human subjects, and does not affect the District's legal liability for adverse consequences of research. The IRB cannot review research for which funding has already been approved or that has already been performed.
