College Credit for Heroes

TCC offers accelerated coursework opportunities for the Fire Technology Program and for the Criminal Justice Program at Northwest Campus as part of College Credit for Heroes and our Veterans Learning Community.

Current Program Schedule

  • Fire Technology: January 2014-December 2014
  • Criminal Justice: January 2015-May 2016

College Credit for Heroes is a partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to ensure our active duty, former and retired military personnel receive the credit they earned for their service to our country.

If you qualify for credit for military service, you are eligible to earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Fire Protection Technology or in Criminal Justice.

Criminal Justice Program

To qualify for the Criminal Justice Program, you must meet the TCOLE and Police Academy minimum requirements.

An applicant questionnaire must be submitted by October 15, 2014. Allow up to one week for a response. If you meet the requirements, we will send you a link to complete an application and personal history statement. We use these documents to complete a comprehensive background investigation, a process required by law.

If you qualify, you will also complete the following:

  • a psychological screen
  • medical exam
  • criminal history check
  • fingerprinting
  • proof of Bacterial Meningitis vaccination (if under 22 years old)
