Clearly, your academic accomplishment is worthy of celebration! As the number of TCC graduates has increased steadily over the last few years, however, we have had to think about making changes to ensure the Commencement Ceremony is joyous for everyone in attendance.
The Commencement Committee explored several options to accommodate the growing number of graduates (and their supporters) in attendance. We determined for 2016, we would host two Commencement Ceremonies instead of one. And we determined the fairest way to assign which graduates would attend what ceremony would be by alphabetical order.
Accordingly, graduates whose last names (as they are listed on the Commencement Participation form) begin with letters A through K will attend the Commencement Ceremony at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 16. Graduates whose last names begin with letters L through Z will attend the Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 16. All Early College High School graduates will participate in the 6 p.m. ceremony.
Please note, we are not allowing graduates to participate in a ceremony different from the one they are assigned. No exceptions. If you have not sent your RSVP for Commencement by May 10, you will not be permitted to participate. No exceptions.
We know this solution will not please everyone, but we believe it will make a much more pleasant celebration for all who are able to attend. Please note both ceremonies will be live-streamed through tccd.edu should you have friends or family who cannot attend in person.
Enter at the Commerce Street Entrance on the east side of the building and report to the graduate staging area.
The commencement ceremony will start at 1 p.m. for graduates whose last names begin with A–K. Graduates whose last names begin with L–Z will participate in the 6 p.m. ceremony. All Early College High School graduates will participate in the 6 p.m. ceremony.
Commencement is expected to last 2.5 hours. Conferring of your degree will be done at the end of the commencement ceremony. Cell phones must be turned off during the commencement ceremony, and graduates are expected to stay for the duration of the event.
