Senior Pastor of the Friendship-West Baptist Church

Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III has been Senior Pastor of the Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, for 30 years. He leads with a commitment to Christ, passion for people and yearning for community transformation. To that end, he has grown Friendship-West to nearly 12,000 during his tenure as Pastor.


Committeed to education, Dr. Haynes has the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts in religion, Bishop College
  • Master of Divinity, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
  • Doctor of Ministry, Graduate Theological Foundation


Dr. Haynes is an author, radio show host and foremost a Pastor.

Like the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Haynes believes in using theology to impact societal needs and issues. He serves in leadership capacities for organizations who champion social change:

  • Chair, Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference
  • Board of Directors, National Action Network
  • Board of Directors, Conference of National Black Churches

Committed to intellectual excellence in both the church and academia, Haynes is also a Board Member of Paul Quinn College where he has also served as adjunct professor.

Honors and Special Achievements

  • Served as a committee member for the MLK Memorial Foundation, leading to the construction of the first African American Monument on the Washington, D.C., Mall.
  • Has been honored by and inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame.
  • Was noted in EBONY magazine's 2012 Power 100, a list of the nation’s most influential African Americans.


Dr. Haynes is married to Debra Peek-Haynes, founder and president of Quorum Commercial, a Dallas commercial real estate firm.

They are the parents of one beautiful daughter, Abeni Jewel Haynes.
