Nurse Aide
Nurse Aide is a 90-hour course, approved by the Texas Department of Human Services, that prepares individuals not licensed as health professionals to provide nursing-related bedside care in health care facilities. Students take the nurse aide exam as part of the course. Nurse aides must successfully complete this course and pass written skills performance exams to be listed in the Texas Registry.
- This program is eligible for financial aid [Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)].
- Reading and basic math tests are required for entry. Please call for test date three months before class starts.

Course Requirements
Students must:
- Be 18 years old.
- Provide proof of the following immunizations:
- Hepatitis B (series of three; takes six months to complete)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria
- Mumps/Measles/Rubella
- Chicken Pox (Varicella)
- Negative Tuberculosis skin test
- Provide their own uniforms.
- Employed students may wear uniform provided by their facilities.
- Students not employed must wear scrubs and white shoes.
- Have white shoes.
- Have a watch with a second hand.
- Have an original social security card (required by Nurse Aide Registry).
- Have a photo ID. First and last name on social security card and photo id must be identical (required by Nurse Aide Registry).
