Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM®)

When you're new to HR or have a few years of experience, TCC has the courses you need to advance your career and confidently handle your organization's complex HR issues.

Tarrant County College Northwest Campus offers two courses in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM®):

  • Essentials® of HR Management (HRPO 1000)
  • PHR®/SPHR® Certification Preparation (HRPO 2030)

Introductory Course

The Essentials®of HR Management offers a comprehensive overview of the human resource function.

This 15-hour introductory course is specifically designed for those who are new to the HR profession or individuals seeking effective ways to increase their HR skills. Topics include:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Employment Law
  • Recruitment and Selection
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Employee Development
  • Performance Management

Advanced Course

The Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) Certification Preparation is a 36-hour exam prep course based on the SHRM Learning System®.

The curriculum reflects the HR Certification Institute Body of Knowledge and is designed to prepare practicing HR professionals for the PHR® or SPHR® exam. Topics include:

  • Business Management and Strategy
  • Workforce Planning and Employment
  • Human Resource Development
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Employee and Labor Relations
  • Risk Management
