The Higher Education Assessment (THEA)
The purpose of the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is to assess the reading, mathematics and writing skills that entering freshman level students should have if they are to perform effectively in undergraduate certificate or degree programs in Texas public colleges or universities.
TCC offers courses in each of the three content areas tested.
- Reading - reviews a study skills and comprehension of written material.
- Math - reviews basic mathematical skills including algebra and geometry.
- Writing - reviews spelling, grammar, and punctuation; writing sentences and paragraphs; and developing and organizing ideas on paper.
