Application Time Line

November 1–1st weekday of February: Application packets are available

  • Online: Dental Hygiene Application Packet

  • In person: NHSC Building, Room 1131 & Room 1118

February 1 at 5 p.m.: Application deadline

March: Learn the status of your application


Follow These Steps to Apply to Dental Hygiene

Step 1: Apply to TCC

Once you are accepted as a student at TCC, you will get a TCC Student ID number. You will need a TCC Student ID number for your application to Dental Hygiene.


Step 2: Meet the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI) requirements for credit course enrollment

Confirm your TSI status with the Registrar’s Office (817-515-0498).


Step 3: Request copies of your transcripts

You will need 2 copies of your transcripts from all the colleges you have attended–including TCC.

You will submit 1 copy to the Registrar’s Office and 1 copy with your application.

International students: Contact International Admissions if you have international transcripts.


Step 4: Take required admissions exams before applying to Dental Hygiene

  • Health Education System, Inc. (HESI) Admission Exam
  • TOEFL iBT® (if English is not your first language)


Step 5: Get a copy of your Texas State Board of Dental Examiners RDA certificate

  • If you are RDA certified
  • If you are planning to have an employer submit work experience for your application

Your RDA Certificate is not available for download. You will need to make a copy of your RDA certificate to submit with your application.


Step 6: Arrange for Work Experience/Observation Forms to be completed

Dental office(s) where you worked or observed must submit your Work Experience/Observation Forms to the Health Sciences Office.

Any Work Experience/Observation Forms you submit will not be accepted.


Step 7: Meet immunization and health insurance requirements

Available only during application period.

In addition to submitting a selective admission application, you must:

  • Meet immunization requirements
  • Have health insurance (after accepted to the program)
  • Be CPR certified (after accepted to the program)
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check/drug screening (after accepted to the program)

Step 8: Submit your complete application packet to the Health Sciences Office
