English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
ESOL is available on the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Trinity River campuses.
The program consists of college prep/developmental courses for non-native English speakers who:
- Want to improve their academic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English
- Want to take additional credit courses with an academic focus
- Plan to earn an academic degree or certificate
To enroll:
- Meet with an academic advisor or ESOL advisor.
- Complete the admissions process.
- Take the ESOL placement exam or ACCUPLACER in the testing center.
- See an academic advisor or ESOL advisor who will grant you a petition, if needed. This will then allow you to register.
- Go to Web Advisor and register for courses.
Please contact an ESOL advisor for assistance with registration, if needed.
Please note:
- Developmental courses do not earn credit and are not transferable.
- ESOL grades are not computed in the grade point average (GPA).
ESL Continuing Education Courses
English as a Second Language (ESL) courses offered through Continuing Education do not require formal admission into the College.
