Program Options

Associate of Applied Science Degree

Our 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The credits are transferable for individuals wishing to transfer to other colleges or universities.

Successful completion of the program allows you to sit for the associate degree-based Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification exam, which is administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

In addition, the program’s strong coding emphasis prepares our HIT A.A.S. degree graduates to sit for the coding certification exams administered by AHIMA and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Certificate of Completion

Our certificate provides entry-level knowledge deemed essential for non-skilled entry-level positions in health information management.

Successful completion of the program allows you to meet requirements for basic employment in non-skilled positions. The credits will apply toward the Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology Degree.

Certificate Program Goals:

  • Provide non-skilled health information management (HIM) employees with credit hours in health information technology foundation courses and selected other courses to enhance the individual’s marketability and job security
  • Provide a basis for individuals who wish to enter the Health Information Technology Associate Degree Program

The HIT Certificate Program does:

  • Not meet requirements for the RHIT exam
  • Not guarantee admission into the HIT A.A.S. degree program
