Respiratory Care
The Program
The Respiratory Care Program is a selective admission, two-year Associate of Applied Science degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
The program is approximately 21 months in length and requires clinical rotations. Additionally, all courses are offered only during the daytime hours.
Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to apply for state licensure. Graduates are also eligible to take the necessary examinations through the National Board for Respiratory Care that lead to the credential Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Role of the Respiratory Therapist
Under supervision of a physician, the therapist:
- Administers therapy
- Performs diagnostic tests, pulmonary rehabilitation and patient education
- Assures proper functioning of therapy equipment
- Plays a major role in the treatment of critically ill patients

- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialing success: 96% (National average: 93%)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing success: 86% (National average: 61%)
- Attrition: 17% (National average: 17%)
- Job placement: 92% (National average: 88%)
- Total number of program enrollees during that period: 82
- Total number of program graduates during that period: 72
