Tech Prep at TCC is the next step following Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses that students take in high school. This program provides a headstart in earning college credit toward an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) technical degree or certificate while in high school.
NOTICE: Tech Prep will officially end nationwide on Wednesday, August 31, 2011; therefore, the last qualifying graduating class will be the Spring 2011 high school graduates. These graduates are eligible to claim Tech Prep credits through Spring 2013 upon successful completion of, and meeting the minimum passing requirements for, the validating course.
In high school, students must complete CTE courses with an 80 or above and graduate from a participating high school. The student then enrolls at TCC where, upon successful completion of a validating course from an eligible program, the College will grant him/her college credits according to the corresponding Course Credit Table.
If you have completed CTE courses in high school and believe that you have pending college credits at TCC:
Once all requirements are met, TCC will award the articulated credits within the following semester.
Tech Prep students have the opportunity to earn college credit while they are in high school. Once they come to TCC and claim their credits, they save the cost of tuition, books and--more importantly--time. Benefits beyond TCC include:
