New Student Orientation (NSO)

You’ve done it. You’ve made it to TCC!

Now what?

If enrolling in college is a completely new experience for you, you probably have questions–and lots of them. Luckily, TCC provides new student orientation to help you start your semester with a clear picture of the road ahead.

Shift into Gear: New Student Orientation

What is new student orientation (NSO)?

NSO is a one-time 4-hour interactive session that connects you–a first time in college (FTIC) student–to the college campus, faculty, staff and support resources.

If you are an FTIC student, then this is great opportunity to get some of your questions answered and to prepare you for a successful entry into the college experience!

Who has to attend NSO?

All FTIC students are required to enroll in NSOR 0010 and attend the new student orientation.

When and where is my NSO?

Choose an NSOR 0010 session from the schedule of classes available in WebAdvisor–preferably one held on the campus where you are taking the majority of your classes. Select your preferred date and time and enroll!

Here’s an overview of the Fall 2014 Schedule:

  • Connections Week: August 18 through 22
  • NSO: Wednesday, August 20, through Saturday, August 23
  • Start of classes: August 25

For Fall 2nd 8-week courses, NSO is Wednesday, October 15, through Saturday, October 18.

What does NSO cover?

This year’s orientation focuses on the advantages of getting connected with fellow students, your campus and the resources around you.
