The TexFlex program is a way to use pre-tax money to reduce the cost of health care or day care expenses. This money is taken directly from your monthly pay check.

You can set aside as little as $180 or as much as $2,550 per plan year (September 1 through August 31) to pay for eligible health care expenses and $5,000 for dependent care expenses. The TexFlex program is administered by ADP, LLC.

Use income tax-free money from your TexFlex account to pay for:

  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Medical expenses 
  • Dental expenses
  • Day care expenses

Because you don't have to pay any income taxes on money spent on qualified expenses, you see your savings in every paycheck. For a complete list of eligible and ineligible expenses, visit the list on the TexFlex website.

You can sign up for TexFlex during the first 31 days of hire, rehire or transfer, Summer Enrollment or after a qualifying life event, such as a birth or marriage. Enrollment is through ERS Online, or a TexFlex Enrollment/Change Form can be submitted to your benefits coordinator.
