The FICA Alternative Plan, administered by MetLife, is a 457(b) variable annuity plan for part-time employees in lieu of Social Security. Enrollment in the plan is mandatory.
The funds placed in this account are taken out of the paycheck on a before-tax basis, so you are not taxed on the gross amount. Funds remain tax sheltered until the time they are withdrawn by the participant, subject to the terms of the plan. Also, you can direct your investment choices in variable investment options offered by MetLife.
For MetLife FICA alternative plan participants to make a withdrawal from the plan, the participant must:
If you would like to make a withdrawal from the plan, please contact the MetLife Customer Service Center at 1-800-560-5001 (Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST) to obtain the withdrawal request forms Group # 6501007.
Once you have received them you must do the following:
The Employer Representative will obtain the plan administrator’s signature and fax the forms to MetLife at 1-877-549-5834 to complete the financial transaction on your behalf.
