Tiashanta Latham

TCC alumna Tiashanta Latham wanted to experience college while still in high school so TCC's Dual Credit Program provided just what she wanted.Tiashanta Latham

"I wanted to start college early and get a taste of it," said Latham, who was curious about how difficult it would be. "I wanted to ease into the whole college thing."

Now a production assistant at NBC 5 who also appears in films and commercials, Latham said her decision to earn her associate degree at TCC allowed her time to determine her career path. "At TCC, I was taking classes trying to find out what I liked. I knew I wanted to do something in front of the camera and loved theater," said Latham.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2007, with a major in communications and a double minor in theater and French. Latham's coursework included study in Paris and Normandy.

"One thing I like to do is talk, so I might as well put it to use," she said. Her current job provides such an opportunity. "I am excited to have been there two years. They know me and know my work ethic, so now they let me do more and work on new projects," said Latham, who is currently working on a segment for "Talk Street," a periodic news special.
