Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA)

The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is a state-approved assessment tool for TSI requirements to assess reading, writing and math skills. Additionally, students in the Teacher Education program must successfully complete this test.

General Information

  • requires an appointment at least one week before the testing date
  • available at South campus only
  • paper/pencil exam
  • offered on certain testing dates only
  • exam starts at 9 a.m.
  • test results may take up to 14 days to arrive

To schedule an appointment:

  1. Pay the $29 exam fee at the Business Services office.
  2. Take your receipt and photo ID to your campus Testing Center to:
    • Select a testing date
    • Add your name to the roster
    • Receive an admission card

Re-testing Information

Students are allowed to re-test every 30 days, but must sign-up each time.
