The Rho Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on SE Campus is collecting printer cartridges for recycling as a fund-raiser. In addition, honor society members are collecting old cell phones to be distributed to abused women and others in need of phones for emergency purposes only. In competition before the NE Campus faculty Jan. 12, Steve Hagstrom, director of library services became the first EECU-TCC NE Best Lecturer. Peter Hacker, assistant professor of history, was first runner-up; Bryan Morgan, adjunct instructor of philosophy, placed third. Sixteen faculty members entered the competition.

Charlotte Mayall, former TCC employee and wife of retired psychology professor Mike Mayall, recently received two nominations for Bluegrass Music Awards. In her seventh year as the bass fiddler for the Vern Young band, a traditional bluegrass trio, Mayall was nominated for bass fiddle performer of the year and traditional female vocalist of the year.

Today Flo Stanton, coordinator of health services on South, will present Balancing Multiple Roles. The free seminar, cosponsored by the Women in New Roles program, is 6-6:45 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room.
Feb. 6 A Basketball Free Throw on NE Campus runs from 12:45-2 p.m. in the gym. Sponsored by NEW Games, the recreations sporting event is open to currently enrolled students, faculty and staff. Pre-registration is not required.
Feb. 10 Racquetball and table tennis (ping pong) begin on South Campus. Play is 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday. Contact Scott Clark in the gym for registration information.
Feb. 11 Career Development on South Campus opens its Job Search seminars with Ten Steps to Planning Your Career. The presenter will guide students through the steps for planning a career pathway at 2-3 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room.
