UTA photographs on show

Focus, the Fine Arts Photographic Association of UTA, has brought a group exhibit of work by its students to NE Campus though Feb. 15.
The exhibit is in College Hall, NCAB 1111, during regular college hours.
Focus was started last year to reach out to students and the general public through photography. Students in photography, art and art history at UTA formed the group.
Paul Leicht, president of the club, said, “Students should come to this exhibit because it gives a different point of view through someone else’s eyes.”
Leicht was inspired to be an artist because it is relaxing for him, and he likes to produce his work.
“This exhibit shows our talents as a new group,” he said.
Suzanne Countryman, another exhibiter, said this exhibit is a good opportunity for people to see how they can improve. She said the exhibit helped her prepare for the future.
Dr. Kathryn Shields, curator for the show and UTA professor, said she was honored to do this show with these students.
Christina Bertolino, also a student at UTA, was inspired to be creative through a different medium.
Bertolino said the students involved wanted to do this exhibit so that their work could be exposed and people could learn about the new group.
Bertolino’s work was taken with Kodalith film, which yields a high contrast negative.
“The show is a variety of what our students at UTA can do,” she said.
Matthew Sacks said his participation was more of an obsession that he enjoys.
“You should come see the exhibit; it is better than sitting and watching television,” he said.
