NE Campus
Feb. 9-27 Toward a Better Living for Rural Texas Blacks, 1930-1960,
a traveling photographic exhibition, will be on display in the North
Hallway of the Student Center. The exhibit pays tribute to the black
Texans who worked with county and home demonstration agents to improve
their standards of living.
Today Joyce King, author of Hate Crime: The Story of the Dragging in
Jasper, Texas, will talk to students at 11:15 a.m. in the NSTU Center
Corner. Lunch will be served. For reservations, call 817-515-6644 by
Feb. 6.
Feb. 24 The music department will present a recital honoring African
heritage. Students in the African hand drumming class will perform during
the 2 p.m. program in College Hall, NCAB 1111. Other entertainment will
include spirituals arranged in the classical tradition and poetry readings.
Feb. 25 Ted Williams, criminal civil trial attorney, will present I
Believe I Can Fly 12:30 –1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served. Call

NW Campus
Feb. 25 Brenda Parker, a motivational speaker, will discuss black history
and overcoming obstacles from 11 a.m. to noon in the NW Theater. Parker
is president of Mountain Movers Unlimited, Inc. in Dallas.
South Campus
Today-Feb. 29 Blacks in the Armed Forces, a photo panel exhibit, pays
tribute to black military units, including the Civil War, Buffalo Soldiers
and Tuskegee Airmen.
Feb. 12 Open Mic Poetry with soft music and refreshments will be held
12:30-1:30 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room.
Feb. 14 Dr. Elizabeth Branch will moderate Having Our Say for the Love
of Our Children and Their Education Success: How and Why You Make a
Difference in the Entire Community, an open panel discussion 12:30-1:30
p.m. in SSTU Living Room.
Feb. 19 The U.S. Army Interactive Mobile Exhibit will be on display
10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the SSTU patio.
Feb. 19 Soul Food Day will feature entertainment by the South Campus
Jazz Combo 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the SSTU Dining Room. Tickets are $2.
Feb. 24 The action/thriller/horror film Blood Boy: The Rise of Devon
will be shown 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room.
Feb. 26 Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts will be presented by the Rev.
Dr. Janes Hood of Jerusalem Baptist Church 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the SSTU
Texas Room.
Feb. 27 Gospelfest will feature performances by local and area gospel
groups at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall.
SE Campus
Feb. 25 Historically Black College/University Recruiting Fair will be
hosted in the Main Commons from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Every Friday SE Campus Food Services will include soul food on the menu
during the month of February.
