Free and low-cost medical testing and information is available today 9 a.m.–3 p.m. in the NSTU Center Corner.
“ The event is related to Women in New Roles and Women’s History Month. We usually don’t have one in the spring time but decided to because of the WINR program,” Paula Vastine, NE director of student activities, said.
Several college and community organizations, programs and medical facilities will participate. Some of the services will cost money, and a few require an appointment.
Carter Blood Bank will offer blood collection, mini physicals and cholesterol checks.
Aids Outreach will provide HIV testing while Harris Occupational Health will provide (for a fee) immunizations for hepatitis A & B, tetanus and cholesterol screening.
TCC participants include respiratory care students conducting pulmonary function tests, the HPE department providing body fat and flexibility testing, the TCC Police offering information on safety for women and the counseling center assisting in student advisement.
Participants can also receive information on bio terrorism, bone marrow donation, mental health, organ donation, the Battered Women’s Foundation and student health insurance.
Other services include blood pressure checks; hearing screening; obesity, diabetes and hypertension screening; vision screening, chair massages and bone density scans and scoliosis screening.
Flo Stanton, health services director on South, will present Laughing Your Way Though Stress during a 1 p.m. luncheon.
