Women’s History Month Events
South Campus
Now-March 31 The exhibit, Women Inspiring Hope and Possibility, features
outstanding women who paved the way and were role models for today’s
women. Sponsored by Women In New Roles, the exhibit is in the Jenkins
Garrett Library lobby area.
Today A Multicultural Extravaganza featuring music, dance, fashion,
exhibits and food that showcase the diversity of the South Campus will
be 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. in the SSTU Dining Room.
March 25 The Women Well Being support group will sponsor Making Relationships
Work in the 21st Century, a discussion led by Lilia Covio-Calzada,
counselor. The counseling department and WINR will sponsor the discussion
1-2 p.m. in the SSTU Bluebonnet Room.
March 25 Women in Music: A Celebration, a concert, will feature female
composers and poets. Moderated by Darlene Marks, music instructor,
the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Recital Hall SREC 1110.
March 27 Women’s Symposium: Rising to the Occasion—Women
on the Move is an educational event sponsored by WINR. General session
speaker Kay Casey, executive director of the TCCD Foundation, will
moderate a panel of role model speakers from the community. The symposium
is 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the SRTA Auditorium. The event includes
an optional field trip to the Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame at 2
p.m.
March 31 Dress for Success, a seminar sponsored by the career center,
will be from 2 to 3 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room.
April 14 All the WINR Jazzzzzzzzzz Concert will feature the South Campus
Jazz Combo under the direction of Rick Sitzel and the TCC Dancers under
the direction of Staussa Ervin. WINR students from all campuses will
participate. The concert is 7:30–8:45 p.m. in the Recital Hall
SREC 1110.
April 15 Music Therapy—Music and Healing, presented by Dr. Nicki
Cohen, Texas Women’s University music therapist, will be at 2
p.m. in the Recital Hall SREC 1110.
SE Campus
Today Eight Step Philosophy for Successful Aging will be presented
in the North Ballroom from 11:30 a. m. to 1 p.m.
Ongoing The Women in Literature display will be in the library all
month.
NE Campus
March 15- April 5 Citizen at Last: The Woman Suffrage Movement in Texas,
an exhibit, currently is on display in the NE Campus Student Center
North hallway throughout the month.
Today Women’s Health Fest in the SSTU Center Corner will feature
presentations, exhibits and services 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Today Flo Stanton, South Campus health services director, will present
Laughing Your Way Through Stress at a 1 p.m luncheon. Call 817-515-6688
