Children get a close-up look at
an armadillo, a prime example of Texas wildlife, during the Texas
Independence Day celebration March 1 in the Stockyard Station.

Festivities included armadillo races,
hayrides, storytelling, blacksmith demonstrations and a gunfighter
reenactment. The event recognized the March 2, 1836, adoption of the
Texas Declaration of Independence. |

on display at the Texas Independence Day celebration. Left:
