Film explores reefs

Some of the world's most natural beauties, featured in Coral Reef Adventure, may soon disappear.

Scientific research by marine biologists around the world predicts the world's coral reef will be extinct in 30-40 years. The Great Barrier Reef of Australia is one of the seven different reefs the production filmed.

The I-MAX presentation guides viewers through a variety of reefs and shows numerous animals and life in the reef. The filmmakers show how quickly the reef can die.

Logging, global warming and over fishing have all severely damaged the fragile ecosystem of the reef, the film reveals.

Howard and Michelle Hall filmed locations all over the world. Their footage includes never-before-seen species of fish and plants.

Howard was the primary cameraman for the filming process, making hundreds of dives and filming hundreds of hours to catch the reefs' beauty.

The I-MAX presentation, Coral Reef Adventure, is an educational film: eye opening in its facts and never-before-seen footage of the reefs.

Coral Reef Adventure will show daily at the Omni Theater through Aug. 14. Omni Theater is located in the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.
