Women in New Roles on South Campus received special recognition at EXPO 2003 March 14 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The group was honored as a STAR Expo Partner for Òservice above and beyond the call of duty."

WIN-R students and faculty distributed more than 400 flyers about TCC and WIN-R to some of the 1600 participants at the event. Trish Light, counselor, serves as WIN-R coordinator.

The NE Forensics Team returned from the Phi Rho Pi regional tournament with several awards March 9, including fourth place in overall individual events. Patreece Dade won first place for poetry interpretation and third place in dramatic interpretation. Stacey Bryant received second place honors for speech to entertain and third place for persuasive speaking. Lisa Simmon placed fourth in prose interpretation while Jesse Estremo placed sixth in program oral interpretation. Natalie Robbins of the SE Forensics Team was recognized for her fourth place finish in debate top speaker.

Today - Students who want to manage their stress can attend today's installment of Lighten Your Load, a seminar series, sponsored by the SE counseling center. Test Anxiety, Math Anxiety and the Biofeedback Solution of Stress Management will be presented by John Huchingson and Joyce Fisher, counselors, at noon in SED 223 on SE Campus.

Today - Steve Rakoff, counselor, will present Effective Note Taking: Getting the Most out of What the Instructor Says 2-3:20 p.m. in the SUB Texas Room on South Campus.

Saturday, March 29 - Passion to Purpose: Making a Difference in 2003, a women's symposium, will be held in the Student Union Building on South Campus 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The event includes exhibits, presentations and lunch. An optional trip to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will follow the luncheon.

Monday, March 31 - Annie Dobbins, counselor, will help students retain most of what they read in their textbooks. The 3R Academic Study Method will be presented 2-3:20 p.m. in the SUB Texas Room.

Tuesday, April 1 - Laughter, My Drug of Choice will be presented by Sally Baskey, humorist and motivational speaker, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in SUB Living Room on South Campus. Her message will concern dealing with change by finding humor in the situation.

Wednesday, April 2- South Campus will hold Laughing Your Way Through Stress at 6 p.m. in the SUB Forum Room. Flo Stanton, coordinator of health services, will show students how to use laughter to relieve stress and make them happier and more relaxed. The seminar is presented in collaboration with the Women in New Roles program.

Wednesday, April 2 - Mike Eason and Penny Matthes, counselors, will present Is Your Relationship Stressing You Out? (Avoiding Co-dependency) at noon in SED 223 on SE Campus. The brown-bag workshop is part of the counseling center's Lighten Your Load.

Wednesday, April 2 - Students and community can participate in the South Campus Health Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Center. Carter Blood Care and the National Marrow Donor Program will conduct blood donor and marrow registry drives 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the SUB Living Room. Anna Colin-Hernandez, an HIV prevention specialist, will be in the SUB Bluebonnet Room 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to perform testing and to deliver results from the March 18 testing. Call 817-535-1113, ext. 104, to make an appointment for HIV testing; walk-ins are accepted. Results from the April 2 testing will be available April 17.

Saturday, April 5 - South Campus will hold its third annual Open House for the community. Informational booths showcasing the campus programs and courses will be in the SUB Cafeteria. Visitors can talk with representatives from each academic department and technical area. Career advising and financial aid information will be available. The carnival-style event will include live entertainment, activities for all ages, free refreshments and special door prizes.

Saturday, April 5 - Battle of the Bands, sponsored by the Student Government Association on South Campus will be 2-6 p.m., east of the Performing Arts Center. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Recital Hall. One member of each band must be a TCC student, and each band must have at least three members. Cash prizes will be awarded first-third places. For information, contact Charles Huber in student activities, SUB 152.

Saturday, April 12 - Last day to drop a class.
