Foundation to provide free trees

The National Arbor Day Foundation will send 10 free trees to people jointing the organization this month. New members can choose between a package of oak or white flowering dogwood trees.
“ White flowering dogwoods will add year-round beauty to your home and neighborhood,” John Rosenow, the Foundation’s president, said in a press statement.
“ Dogwoods have showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage and red berries, which attract songbirds all winter,” he said.
Oak trees, voted America’s national tree in 2001, are strong and provide shade.
The 6-inch to 12-inch trees will be shipped with planting instructions before May 1 at the right time for planting. The trees are guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free of charge.
New members will also receive a subscription to Arbor Day, The Tree Book and discounts on more than 100 varieties of trees.
To join, send a $10 contribution to Ten Free Dogwood Trees, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410 by March 31.
The free oak trees can be obtained from the Web site: www.arborday.org.
