Camper Scamper to benefit camp for
disabled in Dallas

The
ninth annual Camper Scamper 5k run and 1-mile fun run will be held Saturday,
April 12, at Reverchon Park in Dallas.
All
proceeds will benefit Camp John Marc, which serves those with chronic
illnesses and physical disabilities.
Onsite registration for the run will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Fees
to enter are $17 for preregistered adults (who sign up by April 4),
$8 for children under 12 and $25 for race day registration and the week
prior.
Camp
John Mac campers get in free.
The
5k event begins at 8:30 a.m., with the 1-mile run and walk at 9:15 a.m.
Fitness
instructors from Baylor-Tom Landry Fitness Center will lead warm-ups
at 8:10 a.m.

Walk-in registration is available at both Luke's Locker locations in
Dallas and Fort Worth Saturday, April 5, and April 9Ð11.
The
run will start in Reverchon Park at Maple Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard
and will end along Maple Avenue.
Trophies
and cash prizes will be awarded to the following males and females:
top five overall, top three master, top three classic wheelchair and
top three hand-cranked wheelchair, plus trophies to the top three men
and women in a variety of age groups.
In addition to the race, the Campers Corral area features activities,
including carnival games, face painting, the fish tank, high-impact
flyball racers, the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, The Dallas family
rock-climbing wall, a water war and musical entertainment by Jaytee
Productions.
In the Camper Challenge, the camp with the most race participants wins
its camp's name on the Wall of Honor at Camp John Marc plus a large
banner hung in the dining hall all year long.
The event is open to all ages; dogs, strollers and young children also
can participate.
Free parking will be available at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital located
at Welborn and Maple Avenue and the 3500 Maple Building. Handicapped
parking will be available in front of the Reverchon Recreation Center.
