Film dysfunction hysterical
by Brian Wainstein, Reporter

Showcasing his stand-up routine and family life, Eddie Griffin stars in the concert movie DysFUNKtional Family.
Griffin's stand-up routine got the audience howling and clapping with ruthless abandon as their funny bones were tickled.
Traditional family values are challenged as Griffin highlights incidents with his interesting but whacko family.
Especially discussed are his violent mother and his two uncles, one a former pimp and drug addict, and the other, who makes and displays pornography including a photo album of female genitalia (censored by the studios). According to Griffin, his mother has kept him out of the penitentiary by beating him with switches and telephones and the occasional attempt to run him down with a car. Griffin's Uncle Bucky provides entertainment for Griffin and his siblings as they watch him feed his heroin addiction.
Griffin complains his other uncle, the porno connoisseur, won't let him sit on the couch. Audiences know Griffin from Deuce Bigalow, Double Take and Undercover Brother. Griffin reveals his past to viewers of his stand-up show or his movie.
Viewers see the schools Griffin attended and are treated to an elementary school student's break dancing display. Griffin waxes eloquently about drugs, family, other celebrities and, of course, white people.
While the humor in the stand-up routine may be crass and, at times, offensive, DysFUNKtional Family achieves its goal.
    The audience laughs continuously.
What more could you ask of a comedy than laughter?
