The streets of downtown Dallas echo with the chants of more than a thousand war protesters and pro-war demonstrators last weekend near the Kennedy Memorial. With a city permit to march, the protesters were forced to confine themselves to the sidewalks and obey all street signs or risk being ticketed. The anti- and pro-war demonstrators met on Ross Street, exchanging verbal sentiments, but no incidents of violence occurred. A stage was erected in front of the old courthouse for several speakers and musical groups. Sentiments ranged from support for U.S. troops to insults directed toward George W. Bush. |
