PTK chapters receive district honors


Last month Phi Theta Kappa students on all four TCC campuses won more than 25 awards.

Bill Plummer, vice president of service for Rho Chi Chapter on South Campus, received the Distinguished Chapter Officer Award, during the International PTK conference in Minneapolis.

The remaining awards came from the PTK regional convention in Houston.

The Five Star-Status award and the Chapter of Service outstanding merit and achievement award were presented to NE Campus Phi Tau Chapter, NW Campus Alpha Delta Delta Chapter, South Campus Rho Chi Chapter and SE Campus Beta Delta Omicron Chapter.

Four students received the Texas Hall of Honor for Outstanding Members. They include NE Campus chapter president Lori Dickinson, NW chapter president Michael Villareal, South vice president of service Bill Plummer and SE Campus chapter president Rick Jackson. SE member Katie Daley won the Outstanding Service Award.

NE, South and SE chapters received the Pinnacle Award for Continued Excellence.

The Horizon award for new advisers award was awarded to Lori Blagg, NW adviser; Dr. Jean De Schweinitz, South adviser, and Bob McKizzie, SE adviser.

NE won the Scholarship Hallmark Award for the second year in a row and the Leadership Hallmark recognition for merit and achievement.

NW received the Most Improved Chapter Award, the regional Top Ten Chapter Award and the Congeniality Award.

South received the Service Hallmark Award while Greg Clark, member, received the Tejas Award.

SE received the Excellence in Scholarship Hallmark award.
