TCC golf games to honor official

TCC's annual spring golf tournament will be held in memory of Mario Hernandez, former business services employee, Friday, May 9.
The tournament, a Florida scramble, will conduct a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Faculty, staff and guests are invited to play in the tournament at Riverside Golf Club off 360 south of DFW Airport.
The $65 entry fee covers green fees, cart, prizes, refreshments and range balls. All money raised will be used for a scholarship offered in Hernandez's name.
In December 2000, Hernandez and his wife of 38 years were home when a natural gas leak caused an explosion at their North Richland Hills residence.
Hernandez survived the explosion, but died the next day.
He had the opportunity to speak with his wife, children and friends before dying.
"He was a likeable fellow who was liked by all different elements of people. I've never met anyone who didn't like him," Dave Gardner, former NE Campus financial aid director, said following Hernandez's death.
All participants must be checked in by 1 p.m. Entries are due Monday, May 5.
To enter the golf tournament or to get more information, contact Marty Martin at 817-515-6621 or marty.martin@tccd.net.
