Freshman Diaries follows UT fish
(KRT) R.J. Cutler has wrangled both
Bill Clinton ("The War Room") and Roseanne Barr ("The
Real Roseanne Show"), but then working with people who haven't
outgrown all their adolescent issues may just be his gift.
The Emmy-winning producer and director is back in the truly
teenage trenches this season with Showtime's Freshman Diaries, which
follows a group of freshmen at the University of Texas through their
first year. Though film crews followed the students around the clock,
a dozen of the kids also participated, recording video that became an
integral part of the series.
In all, some 17 freshmen form the "cast"
as they encounter alcohol, drugs and one another, and being honest was
the most important thing to those involved.
That honesty makes Freshman Diaries a tough show to turn
away from.
