Campuses begin intramural play
by Rawly Bransom, Sports Editor
Intramural activities are underway
on NE and South campuses.
The Northeast Wellness program, or NEW Games, will have
its first event Friday, Sept. 12, at 12:45 p.m. in the NHPE gym.
A table tennis tournament, the initial event, is open to
all students, faculty and staff.
No early registration is needed.
"The set-up depends on the people we have show up,"
Joy Thetford, director of NEW Games said. "We'll play singles first,
and if we have enough people, we may play doubles as well."
Prizes will be awarded to all participants.
"Usually prizes will be given to the best players;
as well, we will have a drawing for everyone who participates,"
she says.
Players who come to any New Games event will take away
some prize, including pins, plastic glasses, koozies and key chains.
"We just want people who like ping-pong and want to
have fun to come out and meet people," she says.

South Campus will also start both table tennis and 4-on-4
volleyball Wednesday, Sept. 10.
