Smartest pooch to lead hounds

Skidboot, the world's smartest dog, will appear at the Fourth Annual Weiner Dog Derby in Azle Saturday, Sept. 13.
His "human companion and owner," David Hartwig, will join him to perform a short program and serve as the Grand Marshalls of this year's parade of dogs.
Skidboot, a blue heeler-cross, is the champion of Animal Planet's Pet Star contest.
Skidboot and his owner have also made appearances on many television shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The Weiner Dog Derby is more than a race to find the fastest Dachshund.
The event includes contests for the skinniest, fattest, oldest, youngest and best dressed pup present.
Skidboot's program begins at 11 a.m. and will kick off the Weiner Dog Derby festivities.
