Walk to benefit Heart Association
by Rawly Bransom, Sports Editor
The Fort Worth division of the American
Heart Association will sponsor a 5K non-competitive walk Saturday, Sept.
20.
Proceeds will help fund research in the fight against heart
disease and stroke, which take the lives of almost 950,000 people each
year and are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of Americans, according to
literature from the association.
The AHA's goal is to raise $900,000 to help fund both public
and professional educational programs.
Festivities will begin at 8 a.m., and the actual walk will
start at 9 a.m.
Event organizers recommend that participants arrive at
least 15 minutes early to have time for registration.
Participants can register as a group or as individuals
at the Trinity Park Shelter House on West 7th Street.
