Concert to benefit school

Erykah Badu, a four-time GRAMMY winner and Arts Magnet graduate, will headline a event to rebuild the Dallas Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Saturday, Oct. 11.
The gates will open at noon.
With more than 15 bands set to play, the concert will begin at 1 p.m. and continue to 11 p.m.
The concert will be at the Annette Straus Artist Square at 1800 Leonard Street in the Arts District in downtown Dallas.
The main stage will feature national and regional performing artists, many with close ties to the school. A second stage will be for current student performances.
"We've always had state-of-the-art students and faculty, and we'll soon have a state-of-the-art facility thanks to our alumnae and strong supporters like Chipotle," Kenn Franklin, Arts and Magnet principal, said.
All proceeds for the event will go directly to the Arts Magnet Building Campaign to expand and enhance the historic site with an entire campus of new buildings and facilities.
"Chipotle has been involved in the Dallas music scene at all levels since we opened our doors. It seemed to be a logical next step to give back to the community and industry that has been so receptive and supportive of us," Chipotle regional marketing director Kent Chambless said.
