Hispanic Heritage Events
Today
SE Campus will hold a Fiesta 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. in the North Ballroom.
The event includes free food, entertainment and music. Among the performers
are Kalpulli Tonai Teokalli, an Aztec dance group, and mariachis.

27 Ramon Barela One-Person Art Exhibit is on display in the Lakeview
Gallery on NW Campus. The exhibit was inspired by Barela's life experiences.
Now-Sept. 30 An art exhibit featuring Eduardo Aguilar, NW Campus professor
of art, is currently on display in the South Campus Library.

2 NE Campus presents Border Studies, a photo exhibition on patterns
of culture along the Texas-Mexico border. The exhibition of fine arts
images includes various maps showing border relocations. The display
is in the Student Center North Hallway.
Now-Oct.
15 Camino al norte/The Road North opens on NW Campus in the Student
Center foyer. The exhibit includes photographs and stories about Don
Juan de Onate's 1598 journey. The Texas Council for the Humanities Resource
Center provided the educational display.

8 NE Campus will present Mexihca Danza Culture 12:30-1:30 p.m. in
NSTU Center Corner. The free event, sponsored by student activities,
features the Kalpulli Tonai Teokalli Grupo Yayollahtli, an Aztec dance
group.
Oct.
9 Ruben Martinez, nationally recognized author, will discuss his
book Crossing Over 11:15 a.m.-12:25 p.m. in B118 on NW Campus. The book
deals with Hispanic heritage and border issues. Martinez will stay after
the presentation to sign book and answer questions.
