Intramurals to bowl on NE

Bowlers get ready on NE Campus.
NEW Games will present bowling day for students, faculty and staff.
The event will be at Showplace Lanes in Euless 12:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.
"The event will last an hour to an hour and a half depending on how many people show up," Joy Thetford, director of the NEW Games, said.
"At 12:45 p.m. I will explain to everyone how we will be doing everything, and then we will get started playing at 1 p.m.," she said.
"People who show up late just won't get to play as many games, but they will get to participate," she added.
Thetford said approximately three games will be played.
The first two will be classic individual-style bowling games, but the last may be a team game depending on what participants want.
Prizes will be given to anyone who attends the event, as with all NEW Games events.
Prizes will include frizzbees, koozies, T-shirts and other items as well. The event is absolutely free with no sign-up required.
However, only NE Campus students and employees may participate.
A student ID or copy of class schedule may be required.
"We want to make sure it is the students getting benefits of our events, not outsiders," Thetford said.
NEW stands for NE Wellness and is an alternative to the intramural program previously held on campus.
This program allows faculty, staff and students to participate and gives everyone a chance to get exercise and have a little fun at the same time.
The intent of the program is for everyone to have fun, according to Thetford.
The NEW Games director is willing to work with anyone on any type of game or activity that will provide exercise and help TCC people to be healthier.
The HPER facilities are available for any program planned for NEW Games.
In addition, prizes and trophies can be arranged through the program.
