Scholarship transfers, pays tuition
by Rawly Bransom, Sports Editor

Students looking for last-minute tuition money might look into CSEMS scholarships.
CSEMS stands for computer science, engineering or mathematics.
These scholarships are still available for students who have majors in any field related to these areas.
"This is a need-based scholarship," Randy Saleh, academic advisor on SE Campus, said. "Students must show they have financial need, which is why we have money still unused."
To qualify for these scholarships, a recipient must be a full-time student, meaning they have at least 12 hours of classes.
The majority of these classes must be taken on SE Campus.
Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Students must be either a U.S. citizen or a resident alien.
They must provide proof of financial need, which means they must have filled and processed a financial aid form with the SE Campus financial aid office.
Students must also complete a scholarship application form for the CSEMS scholarship. The form can be found in the financial aid office, or it can also be found on the TCC Web site by clicking the SE Campus link and then going to scholarship.
The scholarship was awarded to SE Campus by the National Science Foundation.
"The scholarship was granted to help promote computer science, engineering and mathematics. It is also here to help students who had an interest in these fields but a financial obstacle got in their way," Saleh said.

The scholarship's final deadline is Nov. 1. All applications must be in by that time. The scholarship is renewable as long as all the requirements continue to be met.
"This is a great scholarship because is it renewable and can transfer to UTA," Saleh said. "UTA has set aside part of its CSEMS scholarship grant for students transferring in. I already know of one student who did this last semester."
