Museum to exhibit sculptures
This month Amon Carter Museum will
open the first exhibition of the work of Alexander Phimister Proctor
(1860-1950).
One of America’s most prolific and successful
sculptors of public monuments, Proctor has been immortalized through
his work.
From Texas to New York, Proctor’s work can be
found in the Bronx Zoo with various animals displayed within their natural
habitats and in front of Princeton University’s Nassau Hall in
his depiction of tigers.
Proctor’s local work includes General Robert
E. Lee and Young Soldier in Dallas.
The exhibit itself will include a detailed description
of the sculpting process.
Tools and pictures will show patrons the steps from
mold to finished product.
Sample molds will also be on display throughout the
exhibition.
The exhibit is open to the public starting Oct. 11
and running through Feb. 1.
Admission is free.
