WIN-R students to exhibit artwork for group’s show

Women in New Roles is presenting its annual art show, offering works by a variety of participants.
WIN-R, a program offered by TCC, is designed to help women who have had to readjust their lives either by entering college for the first time or by starting a new career.
The theme of this year’s show is Strong Hearts and Inspired Minds, though some of the art may not reflect this theme, as the exhibitors are given artistic freedom.
A collaboration of South, SE and NE campuses, the show includes the art of more than 30 students, staff and alumni.
“We hope that this will be a very uplifting experience for our visitors,” Triesha Light, South Campus WIN-R coordinator, said.
Patti Zimmerman, this year’s student chairperson, heads the development of the show itself.
An artist herself, Zimmerman said she is excited to see the show come to fruition.
The WIN-R art show is open to the public and will be displayed from Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Nov. 7, in the Carillon    Gallery, Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts, on South Campus.
   Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
A reception will open the show 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 20.
The WIN-R program, which started 25 years ago on South Campus, has now spread to other TCC campuses and offers a chance for women to network with other women who are experiencing life changes. In addition to classes, the group meets weekly to hear speakers or eat lunch.
