Adviser to show financial climate

Students can learn how to get money for college Wednesday, Nov. 12, during a NW Campus presentation.
Susie Olmos Soto, NW Campus academic adviser, believes her Show Me the Money presentation will benefit students.
“It was offered last spring, and I got very favorable responses. Student participants did not know that they could do research for financial aid here at TCC,” she said.
Soto has been an academic adviser for seven years.
Soto said there are many things students do not know about getting financial aid.
“Students who attend TCC and don’t think they will qualify for FASFA should fill out the application anyway because FASFA has other scholarships available. They may also qualify once they transfer to a four-year school,” she said.
With tuition prices increasing at local four-year schools like UTA, students could use this presentation as a way to learn how to get more money, Soto said.
“Students will still experience these types of tuition increases for the next few years. This is why I do my presentations—to help curb the tuition expenses for the students,” she said
Soto said the presentation is meant to inform students of the many opportunities they have.
“Students should attend the presentation because it is probably going to link them to resources they did not know about. It will help eliminate the frustration as far as having to pay for the cost of tuition,” she said.
This presentation will be at 12:30 p.m. in C-112 on NW Campus.
