Astronomers to join forces

The NE Campus Astronomy Club is partnering with Tarleton State University again to produce the Seventh Annual North Texas Skywatch Amateur Astronomer’s Star Party.
The event, designed as an informational gathering, allows people interested in astronomy the opportunity to exchange information and particular stories.
Taking place at the Lake Mineral Wells State Park, this event starts at 4 p.m. and can go on all night for those who make camping reservations with the park itself.
Events include presentations (in the park’s amphitheater) by Dr. Michael Hibbs, astronomy professor at Tarleton State, and other speakers. Previous event speakers have included NBC 5 meteorologists.
Telescopes will also be set up for use, and participants are encouraged to bring their own telescopes as well.
The events are free, but there will be an admission fee into the park.
The current fee is $3 for adults with free admission for children 12 and younger.
For information about camping at the lake overnight for the event or RV parking, call 940-328-1171.
