Campus offering monetary awards


    Students should look no further for teacher gratification.
NW Campus is currently accepting applications for its Outstanding Achievement Awards.
   Forty-four achievement awards will be offered to NW Campus students. The awards will pay for tuition and fees up to $100 for the 2004 spring semester.
   The deadline for all Outstanding Achievement Award applications is Wednesday, Nov. 26.
   Students can apply to any of 16 different areas.
   The faculty in each of the areas will then make all selections for the award.
   Faculty will make their decisions based on academic excellence, class attendance, participation and campus and community involvement.
   Coordinators and their areas for the awards are as follows: Clint Grant, airframe maintenance; Jason Ramos, aviation maintenance; Dr. Thomas Kemp, behavioral science; Bruce Elliot, computer science and office administration; Cheryl Roberts, English, ESOL and reading; Rosa Chavez, fine arts, languages and sign language interpreters; Bill Smith, fire technology, criminal justice and environmental technology; and Ron Morgan, physical education and dance.
  Other areas include Vera Ornelas, learning centers; Dr. Janice Smith, life and physical sciences; Dr. Alicia Lupinacci, management; Edna Greenwood, mathematics and physics; Toe Myint, micro-manufacturing technology; Dr. Laura Wood, social sciences, and Vesta Wheatley, student activities.
   For more information or to pick up an application, contact any of these department heads, faculty from corresponding areas, dean of students office or the financial aid office on NW Campus.
