New system to challenge registration
by Rawly Bransom, Sports Editor
When TCC starts registration Tuesday,
Nov. 11, students will get their first glimpse of the new TCC Connect
registration system.
The new system will be totally alien to students familiar
with the old method. Knowing this, the administration has created a
flyer to help students prepare.
Flyers are in all campus registrar offices, counseling
offices and registration areas.
Campuses also will add registration areas on campus.
The administration will try to keep staff near all registration areas
to assist students who are having problems with the new systems.
The NE and NW campuses will have registration areas
set up in the libraries, but at press time locations for South and SE
campuses were unavailable.
According to Dr. Cathie Jackson, director of admissions
and registration, some previous features may not be available as of
the first day of registration.
“I’m in the process of determining which services
now on EASI (our old system) will be immediately available through TCC
Connect and which will not,” Jackson said. “For
those that aren’t available, we are determining what alternatives
we can provide and how long it will be before we can have them active
again on TCC Connect.”
One area that will not be available right away is
ordering transcripts on-line.
According to Jackson, a letter will be mailed this
week to all current students to explain this issue and other issues
the administration believes students will have.
Jackson also recommends students be prepared. Students
should have schedules prepared before logging in.
Also, the earlier students register, the easier it
will be on them since the bulk of TCC registration generally happens
during late registration.
When the registration Web site is activated, students
will be able to enter it through the TCC site http://tccd.edu by simply
clicking on register on line in the pull down menu at the top of the
page.
Prior to registering, students should visit wa.tccd.edu
to obtain user ID and password.
For more information, contact the registrar’s
office or read flyer.
