WIN-R to sponsor forum

Women in New Roles will hold its second Annual Women’s Leadership Forum Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. on the NE Campus.
The forum is free to all students and the community. The keynote speaker for the event is Erma Johnson-Hadley, TCC vice chancellor for administration.
“She is a pioneer for women and has done a lot for her profession,” Triesha Light, South Campus WIN-R coordinator, said.
Hadley’s speech, Things I learned along the way … is partly a result of her more than 25 years of leadership in the TCC District. Her experience runs from legal issues and negotiations to policy design.
In 1981, Hadley became the first woman and African American vice chancellor at the college.
The forum aims to help women see their potential and find their passion, Light said. The WIN-R program conducted research concerning women in business and found a growing need for leadership training.
“When we see a need with our students and the community, we are ready to help,” Light said.
The district-wide program wants to address the needs of women who want to find drive in their lives, Light said.
“Success was enough in the 20th century, but it isn’t enough in the 21st century,” she said. “Women need to be a leader of one.”
