Student rocks at band concert

Brandon Stewart’s talents and
outgoing personality landed him onstage in September to play with his
favorite band, MxPx.
Stewart, a NE Campus student, has been an MxPx fan
since the band first started, and for the past couple of years, he has
been writing to MxPx asking if he could play a song with them onstage.
Band members surprised Stewart when they agreed.
During a concert at NextStage in Grand Prairie earlier
this semester, Stewart got his chance. Without even practicing with
the band beforehand, he played “Should I Stay or Should I Go?”
by The Clash on guitar with MxPx.
Stewart said it was great to play with MxPx on stage,
and he didn’t feel nervous.
“It was the best time of my life so far,”
he said.
Stewart, 20, was born in Wichita, Kan. He is attending
TCC to get basic courses out of the way.
Stewart plans to go to the University of North Texas
to study film because it has a nationally recognized program.
Stewart said he got interested in film through a friend.
He has prepared for his film career in a variety of ways.
For example, while going to Arlington Heights High
School, Stewart participated in theater and directed a student play.
He also has edited videos for his church.
Besides being interested in film, Stewart owns his
own clothing company, Valiant Clothing. He currently has two shirts,
several pins and most recently “trucker hats” that he sells
at local concerts and on-line at his Web site www.valiantclothing.com.
Involved with his church, Stewart attends mass and
his youth group every week.
