Art group to raise funds for NY trip

The student-based NE Art Association has set a new goal this year: to re-establish a major fund-raiser.
Through the NE Annual Art Exhibition, the organization hopes to raise enough money for a field trip to New York City.
Along with the many tourist attractions available in the city, during the trip, sponsors are anticipating visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, seeing a play, attending a dance performance and visiting the Juliard School of Fine Arts.
To be eligible to go, students must be enrolled in at least one art, English, drama, music or visual art class.
As well, students planning to go to New York must participate in at least one of the three fund-raisers already planned to raise money for the trip.
Despite its 32-year existence, the NEAA has never attempted a trip to New York.
However, sponsors of the organization say they feel confident the trip will be a success because of early and heavy fund raising.
If the fund-raisers are successful, the cost of the trip will be reduced dramatically for participants.
Three fund-raisers are planned so far; the first ends today when winners for a raffle drawing are selected.
Prizes are three original, unframed prints by TCC art department instructors Paul Greco, Elizabeth Holden and Karen Weinman.
For information on eligibility or fund raising, students may contact Anitra Blayton at 817-515-6257, or e-mail at Anitra.Blayton@tccd.edu or in FAB 162.
